I always get a recommendation from someone I trust, and I avoid dealerships. They’re overheads are higher, and it’s more difficult to develop a personal relationship with the owners or the mechanics.

Thank god we have sites like Yelp and Google reviews. Before getting any type of work done on my vehicle, I always consult Yelp first and read customer reviews. I also ask my insurance agent for their preferred mechanics… and I ask my friends for their recommendations. It’s better to do your homework and be safe than be sorry with a shady mechanic!
