Tell us about yourself, Chanel
My name is Chanel Tyler. I attend Spelman College and my major is Economics.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to go into Banking with my degree.

What song is stuck in your head, right now?

The song that is stuck in my head is Use Somebody by Kings of Leon.

Whats the last TV show you saw? Any good?

The last TV show I watched was Hawthorne with Jada Pinkett Smith and I really love the show!

Do you have any interesting tips/tricks/activities to make extra money for school?

The best way to make extra money for school is to tutor other students in a subject that you are strong in.

Tell us, whats the biggest misconception people have about YOUR generation?

The only misconception I can think of is that we are too technology savvy and we never want to do things the hard way, but I also think that over the past few years people’s perception of my generation has changed, especially with all the efforts towards the last election and the number of college students that volunteered to help with the aftermath of Katrina.

People in my generation want to help, we want to make a difference and we want to change the world for the better!

How does your generation think differently about Making a Difference?
We think differently because we are experiencing so many realities at one time, a war, a recession, a time of change, things like that which force us to think different, to be different and to want to make a difference.

Chanel, what have you done to Make a Difference in the Community?
I volunteer to help clean-up the neighborhoods and rebuild houses in my college community. I also mentor young girls in a program that I am involved in at Spelman College.
