“Are we there yet?” It’s a common refrain heard on many a road trip. But an arsenal of toys and activities can help keep bored, disinterested kids entertained during a long drive. Trouble is, by the time you reach your destination — maybe even before the first rest stop! — your backseat may look like a battle zone, with books on the floor, crayons in the cup holder and toys everywhere. Consider this quick fix from Martha Stewart to help create some order while you’re on the road.
Step 1: Grab a hanging shoe organizer (if you use a clear one, your kids can see what’s inside). Cut off one or two bottom rows so it’s not too long to hang from the back of the front seat.
Step 2: Measure a ribbon so it will go around the front-seat headrest. Tie each end of the ribbon to one of the holes at the top of the organizer.
Step 3: Hang the organizer on the back of the seat.
Step 4: Fill the pockets with toys, books or whatever you like!
